EML has launched GPS start-up Air Semiconductor in both the UK and US markets, with an Asia launch planned for later this year. The combined press tours have so far briefed key trade media with a reach of 1.675 million target readers in the electronics, GPS and digital camera industries.

EML’s campaign has been planned to gain maximum early exposure for Air Semi’s Airwave 1 product, an instant and continuous GPS chip solution for the digital camera market. The technology can enable automatic geotagging of photographs, in the same way that date and time are added today.  In the UK, EML managed a week’s worth of intensive briefings with key media.  Initial online coverage was achieved within minutes of the announcement being made, with extensive print and online coverage in key publications following soon afterwards.  Whilst in the US, EML arranged a press tour for Air spanning over five days and resulting in coverage in some of America’s most highly regarded electronics publications.

EML was retained by Air due to its extensive experience in public relations for technology start-ups, having run over 20 successful start-up campaigns.  Stephen Graham, Air’s CEO commented, “We believe we have a solid offering for the digital camera market and EML’s hard work has given us the kind of launch we believe our product deserves.  We have spoken to a great list of media targets.”

Richard Parker, Managing Director at EML added, “Air is a significant account to have won.  Its technology will have wide reaching effects both in the digital camera market and in mobile phones.   Our press tour has seen an enthusiastic response from the trade media and we plan to keep this momentum going.”

Air’s client team at EML is now gearing up for the Asia leg of the press tour, which is expected to repeat the successes of the US and UK launch.
