TSMC wins European Elektra award for Manufacturer of the Year
EML's client TSMC Europe received an Elektra award in November recognising its contribution to the European fabless semiconductor industry.
Although all manufacturing is carried out in Taiwan - TSMC is the world's largest dedicated semiconductor foundry and provides the industry's leading semiconductor process technology, library and IP options - it has major involvements with Europe’s fab-less semiconductor companies, including CSR and Nemerix, as well as European IDMs.
The judges unanimous decision to award the company Manufacturer of the Year reflected TSMC's efforts and investments which allow the newer semiconductor processes to be adopted with a much lower risk of missing production deadlines, important as market windows for consumer semiconductors continue to shrink.
Dieter Stroehle, Sales Director for TSMC Europe gratefully accepted the award in front of 300 industry representatives at a ceremony in Munich which coincided with Electronica 2006.
