World's largest semiconductor foundry selects EML for European PR campaign

EML, the specialist technology PR company, has been retained by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's first and largest semiconductor foundry, to help enhance its service to the European market.

Semiconductor foundries manufacture the integrated circuits (or 'microchips') that are the heart of all electronic equipment from PCs and mobile phones to MP3 players and aircraft navigation systems. Foundries work for fabless semiconductor companies that have IC design but no manufacturing capability, as well as established semiconductor companies that outsource part of their production.

Founded in 1987, TSMC is the world's largest dedicated semiconductor foundry and its 2004 turnover of $7.6 billion is larger than its next three competitors put together. As the founder and leader of this industry, TSMC has built its reputation by offering advanced integrated circuit production processes and unparalleled manufacturing efficiency. Its revenues represent some 50% of the global foundry market.

TSMC is EML's 23rd semiconductor client and in addition to working on a media relations campaign in the major European countries and Israel, the agency will also be involved in many other PR and branding activities. EML managing director, Richard Parker, commented, "TSMC is by far the most important company in the foundry business and we are greatly looking forward to raising its profile across Europe."
